The opposite of StarClan's hunting grounds, this is the place where cats who have committed great crimes against their Clans and against the warrior code go when they die. There is no prey, and cats cannot feel hunger. They are unable to walk the skies with friends and family, and are banished to solitude. Cats in the Dark Forest who are forgotten by little cats fade to ghosty spirits, similarly to StarClan cats.
Some cats in the Dark Forest can walk in the dreams of living cats, bringing the dreaming cat to the Dark Forest. However, these cats are capable of refusing the visits by consciously deciding they do not want to be visited. Upon waking up from the dream, the cat will retain anything acquired in the dream; this could be skills, fatigue, or wounds.
Living cats can visit the Dark Forest, but usually only when guided by a StarClan cat.
